I am planning to leave the evening of Thursday May 19th and go up north and volunteer with the cleanup effort. I will be staying for 8 days and camping in the city of 花巻 (Hanamaki). Every morning we will travel south-east by bus to the coastal city of 陸前高田 (Rikuzen-Takada). We will work with local residents to help clean debris and clear rubbish so people can begin rebuilding their communities and get on with their lives.
I am eager to lend my time and look forward to helping in any way I can. I will try to update this blog with stories and photos but the lack of internet access could be an issue. Stay tuned!
